Private Client
2024
Crown Heights Residence
Brooklyn, NY
Even before the lease was signed, the client had fallen for a (to-be-restored) postmodern sofa and pieces of vintage art that set the palette and energy of the space. Guided by these criteria, Brian Cash Works composed an interior where Postmodernism’s polished confidence meets the tactile warmth of Folk Art, an interest the client brought to the table. Chrome and lacquer counterbalance physically and conceptually woven materials, creating harmony and depth. This is best seen in the dining chairs (attributed to Gio Ponti), throw pillows, and art program throughout. In the living area, generous amounts of furniture properly define zones for work, dining, and rest. A custom quilt—designed by Brian Cash and pieced by-hand by his mother—upholstered headboard, and floating lacquered nightstands bring softness and individuality to the bedroom.
A dialogue between polish and texture, resulting in a space where contrast creates cohesion
