Candor Candy
Brooklyn, NY

Even before the lease was signed, the client had fallen for a (to-be-restored) postmodern sofa and pieces of vintage art that set the palette and energy of the space. Guided by these criteria, Brian Cash Works composed an interior where Postmodernism’s polished confidence meets the tactile warmth of Folk Art, an interest the client brought to the table. Chrome and lacquer counterbalance physically and conceptually woven materials, creating harmony and depth. This is best seen in the dining chairs (attributed to Gio Ponti), throw pillows, and art program throughout. In the living area, generous amounts of furniture properly define zones for work, dining, and rest. A custom quilt—designed by Brian Cash and pieced by-hand by his mother—upholstered headboard, and floating lacquered nightstands bring softness and individuality to the bedroom.

A dialogue between polish and texture, resulting in a space where contrast creates cohesion

Living room with dining table, chairs, beige couch, large window with curtains, potted plant, table lamp, and decorative decor.
A cozy home office with a leather swivel chair, white floating shelves filled with books and decorative items, a small desk with a lamp, a window with wooden blinds, a framed painting, a vinyl record storage case, and a metallic trash can on a wooden floor.
Bedroom with a gray headboard, framed artwork on the wall, a window with blinds and a small vase with red flowers on the sill, and a bed with a geometric patterned quilt.
A cozy corner of a room with a textured, off-white blanket and a patterned quilt draped over a piece of furniture. The quilt features a star pattern in blue, black, white, and brown colors. The furniture has a dark edge, and the floor appears to be wood.
A cozy bedroom corner with a tall wooden floor lamp turned on, standing beside a window with horizontal blinds. A potted plant with green leaves sits on the windowsill, and part of a bed with a colorful patchwork quilt is visible in the foreground.
Wall-mounted mirror with two lit yellow candles reflected in it, casting a warm glow.
A bedroom corner with a bed featuring white sheets and black-accented pillows, a gray bedside table with a white textured lamp, a small gray vase with red flowers, and framed artwork with profile sketches hanging on the wall.
